Reading and libraries have always been an important part of my life. My mother always read to me at bedtime when I was a child, and when my father gave me my first Nancy Drew book (The Moonstone Castle Mystery!) when I was in 5th grade, I was totally hooked! I spent lots of time in the public library in my town (Prince Memorial Library in Cumberland), and I even volunteered there when I was in middle school.
I began my career as a high school English teacher but quickly realized that the library is where I wanted to be! I went back to school and got my Masters in Library and Information Studies while working as a library assistant in a middle school and have spent the past 16 years as the librarian at Mt. Ararat Middle School.
I am so excited to be your new librarian! I find it rewarding to help students develop their information literacy skills and learn to use the research process. I also love to share great books and my passion for reading with students! I look forward to getting to know all of you!
